How Google Killed the Internet

It is odd, considering that I've spent the last six years studying new media and the internet and given how much I know about the internet and blogging, how little help that knowledge is in writing something you enjoy writing. (That sentence soooooo doesn't sense but I'll leave it there as evidence of Ph.D-induced brain-damage.)

Knowledge of how Google operates in terms of ads, search engine ranking and how certain styles of writing and posting tend to promote search engine traffic, does not help in any way when it comes to actually putting some words together.

Sure, I can and have tried to put together the short, bland, link-y tripe that Google Adsense rewards, but since I tend to nod off halfway through reading my own text in those cases, I worry that it'd kill my readers with boredom.

Not that those masses are anywhere near this weblog, given my extended hiatus.

Still, wouldn't want to have three or four souls on my conscience.
